Planning and construction of a landfill
Landfill technology

Under existing law, the building permit of a landfill is granted based on an object planning. Without additional evidence the building of the securing elements can be carried out. The proof of suitability must be provided afterwards, to be able to apply the final acceptance (termination of aftercare; see diagram). We create the necessary evidence for new buildings or for landfill that are the after-care. We see ourselves as a service provider in the field of qualifying evidence of landfill securing elements, compared with the relationship of the architect (object planner) to the service providers (structural engineer).

Qualification proof on the basis of values according to DepV (landfill ordinance) and DIN standards

Design and dimensioning the landfill securing elements

The landfill ordinance (DepV) which is in progress contains the from the technical point of view and from Fitec long required paradigm shift from the action orientation towards value orientation in assessing the system effectiveness and long-term stability of all sealing systems. If its implemented in the form described the evidence to achieve the building permit should be on the hand.

Fitec assesses the long-term behavior of landfills and deposits on scientific bases. The examined periods usually go from 150 years to 500 years. We plan and assess the securing systems, regardless of the type of construction, to the specific requirements of the site. We develop the criteria for termination of after-care, taking into account the DepV and DIN and determine the required period for the after-care as part of the planning task. In summary, there are the following services:

  • Risk analysis of the landfill emissions into the aquifer for critical landfill ingredients to determine the potential risks [Assessment – see graphic]
  • Dimensioning of security systems regardless of their construction type in compliance with specified legal thresholds with proof of eligibility for the basic conditions of the site
  • Definition of the criteria related to the location of the landfill to the termination of after-care and the necessary duration [Building – see graphic]
  • Cost optimisation of safeguards
  • Monitoring the permitting process and the dismissal from the after-care [Optimize –see graphic]
