LONG-TERM SOIL AND GROUND­WA­TER PROTECTION

The soil fil­ter aer­a­tion tech­nol­o­gy is a devel­op­ment of Fin­ster­walder Umwelt­tech­nik with the aim of inert­ing organ­ic land­fill ingre­di­ents (eg ammo­ni­um) or organ­ic impu­ri­ties in the soil (eg petro­le­um hydrocarbons).

Our areas of appli­ca­tion include the reme­di­a­tion of organ­i­cal­ly con­t­a­m­i­nat­ed, com­plex old sites, old deposits, dumps, land­fills, inter­me­di­ate and final stor­age. We offer with the FIN­STER­WALDER soil fil­ter aer­a­tion tech­nol­o­gy:

Accord­ing to the pre­cau­tion­ary prin­ci­ple, Fin­ster­walder Umwelttechnik’s soil fil­ter aer­a­tion tech­nol­o­gy can be used to car­ry out the in situ aer­a­tion in a pol­lu­tant-spe­cif­ic man­ner and after expan­sion of the source. This inno­v­a­tive process is char­ac­ter­ized by a vol­ume spec­i­fi­ca­tion of the reg­is­tered air, pres­sure mea­sure­ment at ven­ti­la­tion wells, as well as an ana­lyt­i­cal deter­mi­na­tion of the reac­tion prod­ucts via the mea­sure­ment of the pore air com­po­si­tion. Over­all, the method offers the pos­si­bil­i­ty of con­trol­ling the bio­log­i­cal in situ reme­di­a­tion from the begin­ning and process-spe­cif­ic process para­me­ters
(eg tem­per­a­ture) can thus be adapted.

We are hap­py to assist you in the area of appli­ca­tion and imple­men­ta­tion for the in situ sta­bi­liza­tion of land­fills with­in the frame­work of the munic­i­pal direc­tive of the nation­al cli­mate pro­tec­tion ini­tia­tive (NKI). The aer­o­bic in situ sta­bi­liza­tion of land­fills is a fund­ing pri­or­i­ty of the NKI, as for­mer land­fill sites are almost exclu­sive­ly owned by pub­lic waste dis­pos­al com­pa­nies. With­in the frame­work of the focus on cli­mate pro­tec­tion con­cepts, a “Poten­tial study for the reduc­tion of green­house gas emis­sions from munic­i­pal waste land­fills” can be fund­ed. We would be pleased to pre­pare a tech­ni­cal poten­tial analy­sis for the use of suit­able tech­nolo­gies to reduce green­house gas emis­sions from land­fills that have been shut down (emis­sion poten­tial assess­ment and pre­lim­i­nary analy­sis for the tech­ni­cal imple­men­ta­tion of suit­able meth­ods). In addi­tion, an invest­ment sup­port for the in situ sta­bi­liza­tion mea­sure (project-accom­pa­ny­ing engi­neer­ing ser­vices dur­ing the instal­la­tion and com­mis­sion­ing phase as well as the use of aux­il­iary equip­ment for self-pow­er sup­ply) is provided.

Appli­ca­tions for each cal­en­dar year must be sub­mit­ted by March 31st.

Mea­sur­ing and automa­tion technology

Fin­ster­walder soil fil­ter aer­a­tion tech­nol­o­gy com­plete­ly auto­mates the oper­a­tion of the ven­ti­la­tion sys­tem and the mea­sur­ing tech­nol­o­gy. The data is col­lect­ed dai­ly and can be read remote­ly from the office at the same time. The faults in the sys­tem are also report­ed auto­mat­i­cal­ly and can be elim­i­nat­ed promptly.

The mea­sure­ments allow the cre­ation of mass bal­ances by the eval­u­a­tion of the pore air com­po­nents, sep­a­rat­ed for the absolute quan­ti­ties of TN and TC. The course of the sub­stance con­ver­sion as a func­tion of time is an indi­ca­tor of the switch-off time. The mea­sure for this is the increase per unit of time. If this falls below a pre­de­ter­mined lim­it val­ue, it can be switched off.
