Expan­sion of the project in Lana/Bolzano

For the anaer­o­bic diges­tion plant in Lana/Bolzano, which has been in oper­a­tion since 2007, an expan­sion and mod­ern­iza­tion was decid­ed in 2018. The design and imple­men­ta­tion of the con­ver­sion by Fin­ster­walder Umwelt­tech­nik into an inno­v­a­tive mod­el plant was suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ed in sum­mer 2021. The expand­ed pre­treat­ment sys­tem is sched­uled to go into oper­a­tion in 2022. A dou­bling of capac­i­ty is planned. At present, the Ital­ian show­case plant has a treat­ment poten­tial of 30,000 tons/year. 40 munic­i­pal­i­ties from the South Tyrolean region cur­rent­ly deliv­er their biowaste to Lana. The oper­a­tors rely on Fin­ster­walder tech­nol­o­gy for the imple­men­ta­tion of the anaer­o­bic diges­tion plant and its expan­sion. Sim­pli­fied treat­ment process­es make it pos­si­ble to reuse all organ­ic sub­stances of the biowaste and to opti­mize ener­gy recovery.
